TYPES OF THERAPY
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy sessions offer a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive environment for you to take a step back and assess, or get a closer look at something going on inside. Some people struggle to take space for themselves either because they believe it is “self-indulgent” or because there are too many things requiring their attention - but the truth is that everyone could benefit from a dedicated hour, just for them. No matter what your goals are, individual therapy is an opportunity to gain perspective and clarity on the longest and most important relationship you will ever have - the one you have with yourself.
Multi-person therapy sessions provide a safe and supportive space for couples, families, and relationships of all kinds to explore and address relationship challenges. Whether you are struggling with communication issues, conflict, infidelity, or navigating life transitions, our experienced therapists offer guidance and tools to foster understanding, connection, and intimacy. We draw from Attachment Theory, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Method, utilizing collaborative exploration and skill-building exercises to empower you to strengthen your bond, rebuild trust, and cultivate a relationship that thrives.
Relationships, couples and families
Children and teens
Providing therapy that is adapted for children, adolescents, and teens is a cornerstone of our practice. Many of our therapists have specialized training and experience working with young people in a variety of settings, such as treatment centers, schools, and outpatient therapy. A large percentage of our practice is made up of amazing adolescents and teens struggling to navigate a host of challenges such as, life stage changes, peer pressure, academic stress, self-esteem, family dynamics, self-harm, social anxiety, fitting in, behavioral issues, body image distress, anxiety, and depression. It is an honor and a privilege to be a trusted confidantes and guides during such a formative period of life.
Group Therapy
Group therapy sessions provide a supportive and dynamic environment for individuals to connect, share experiences, and explore personal growth alongside peers facing similar challenges. As the value of relationship is woven into the fabric of our practice, we offer group therapy as a way of providing community to populations who feel alone, marginalized, or in need of additional support. Facilitated by experienced therapists, these sessions offer opportunities for mutual support, empathy, and interpersonal learning. You can check out which groups we are currently running or enrolling for here.
EMDR
While we often incorporate EMDR alongside other modalities for our existing clients during longer term treatment, some people come to us specifically looking for EMDR only. In this case, we will pair you with an EMDR-trained therapist who can assess whether you are appropriate for EMDR and develop an EMDR only treatment plan based on your needs. EMDR can be a shorter-term therapy with a smaller number depending on the target memory. Please keep in mind that, even in these cases, length of treatment cannot be determined up front because it depends on a number of variables. EMDR sessions can be scheduled for either 50 minutes or 90 minutes (recommended).

MODALITIES
When we say that we use an integrative approach, what we mean is that we incorporate valuable aspects of several different kinds of therapies based on the unique needs of each individual client. Therapy is deeply personal and everyone responds best to a different combination of things. Below is a road map to our most commonly used practices.
FOUNDATION
RELATIONAL & PERSON-CENTERED
“It takes two to know one” - Gregory Bateson
The foundation of our therapeutic practice is relationship, because we believe it is the most important and influential tool for healing and change. Relational therapy focuses on exploring the dynamics of relationships and their impact on individual well-being. Through empathetic dialogue and exploration of interpersonal patterns, it aims to foster deeper understanding, healing, and growth within the context of significant relationships. Our practice is person-centered and prioritizes the individual's autonomy, self-exploration and growth within a supportive, non-directive therapeutic environment.
DEPTH PSYCHOLOGY
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” - Carl Jung
We also integrate psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theories into our approach, recognizing the complexity of the human psyche and the profound influence of unconscious processes on behavior and emotions. Drawing from these theories, we delve into the depths of the unconscious mind, exploring the influence of early childhood experiences, unconscious conflicts, and relational dynamics on present-day thoughts and behaviors. Through in-depth exploration, empathetic listening, and insightful interpretation, we help clients uncover and process underlying issues, fostering profound self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
SOMATIC
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR)
This kind of therapy is not as intimidating as it sounds! Sometimes traditional talk therapy does not allow us to touch certain aspects of our experience because we get in our own way. EMDR is a way for our mind to process what our bodies already know by activating our brain’s natural adaptive processing system, which does the work for us. By incorporating bilateral stimulation, EMDR aims to reduce the emotional charge associated with past traumas, allowing clients to heal and move forward with greater resilience and emotional well-being.
INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS)
Polyvagal Theory offers clients a clear understanding of their response to stress and trauma, as well as how to recognize it in their own body. This knowledge is extremely useful for clients to cultivate a sense of safety, connection, and empowerment in navigating life's challenges. By exploring the intricate interplay between the nervous system, emotions, and social interactions, Polyvagal Theory provides insights into how therapy can effectively regulate the body's physiological responses, leading to greater emotional resilience.
BEHAVIORAL
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
If you have ever heard the phrase, “you are what you think,” this is a good way to understand CBT. It is the idea that our thoughts and beliefs dictate how we feel and, in turn, how we feel dictates how we behave. Often, our behavior reinforces the way we think. CBT is a way for us to disrupt this cycle by examining our thoughts more closely. It is like a toolbox for your mind, helping you understand and change unhelpful thoughts, core beliefs, and behaviors that might be holding you back. By teaching clients adaptive coping strategies and promoting cognitive restructuring, CBT empowers individuals to overcome challenges, manage symptoms, and achieve lasting positive change.
EXPOSURE RESPONSE PREVENTION (ERP)
Sometimes the most practical route to overcoming our fears is to face them. ERP is a step-by-step process that allows clients to gradually come in contact with the source of their anxiety in a controlled and supportive environment. This allows them to build tolerance, challenge beliefs, gather evidence, and develop copings skills with the overall goal of reducing the trigger’s power and the distress associated with it. This is most often used to treat disordered eating, food phobias, OCD, and social anxiety.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)
We are certainly not given a handbook for surviving as a human or managing the challenges that life throws our way - but if we were, it would look a lot like DBT. DBT is a collection of skills that really should be taught to every person at a very young age. These skills fall into four different categories: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. While anyone can benefit from these skills, they are especially helpful for those who struggle with disregulation, emotional volatility, relational conflict, self-harm, feelings of emptiness, and poor sense of self. Some of us are highly sensitive people with high levels of hypervigilence. - these skills can help provide a clear path to resilience and overall stability.
